Emergency Medical Services
The Captiva Island Fire Control District implemented the Advanced Life Support (ALS) program in 2011. The goal of the ALS program is to provide the best life saving techniques and support possible to Captiva Island’s residents and visitors. The personnel are highly trained to treat medical illnesses, heart attacks, stokes as well as serious injuries that occur. The ALS program is lead by Lieutenant/Paramedic Kelli Wilson.
The Fire District Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics undergo rigorous training and maintain continuing education hours each year. Personnel utilize life saving medications and equipment to provide the most state of the art care. Severely injured patients can be air lifted to the nearest trauma facility located in Ft. Myers.
The Captiva Fire District Paramedics can begin treatment of severely injured victims in car accidents or treat victims (while still entrapped) and victims of structure fires including resuscitation and rescue from these structures.
